Taika Waititi gives an update on his next Star Wars film

While we’ve gotten plenty of Star Wars content on Disney+, with shows like ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ and ‘The Book Of Boba Fett’, it’s been years since we’ve seen a Star Wars movie last hit theaters and it will be a few more years before we get the next one.

One of the many Star Wars films currently in development is created by Taika Waititi, who directed ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and the upcoming ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’, in addition to directing an episode of ‘The Mandalorian’ and providing the voice of “IG-11” in the Disney+ series.

Ever since it was announced that Taika Waititi was creating a new Star Wars movie, fans have been excited to hear more about the project. Especially since the previously announced “Rogue Squadron” movie, which will be directed by “Wonder Woman’s” Patty Jenkins, has been delayed.

Recently, during an interview with Screen Rant, Taika Waititi gave a little update on the film:

That remains to be seen. I do not know. I always write. I’m still coming up with the ideas and directing it and just wanted to make sure it felt like a Star Wars movie.

Because, I could say, “Oh yeah, we’ll just write whatever and put in space, and then put Star Wars on the front.” But it wouldn’t be a Star Wars movie without certain elements and treatment, so I just have to make sure it stays in that wheelhouse.

Unfortunately, we didn’t hear anything about upcoming Star Wars movies during last month’s Star Wars Celebration event. However, hopefully we’ll find out more details soon, though it looks like these movies are still in the early stages of development and hitting screens for a while.

Are you looking forward to the return of Star Wars to the big screen?
