Southeast Asian Film Festival returns to Maitland’s Enzian in October

Maitland’s Enzian Theater and the Asian Cultural Association are bringing back the South Asian Film Festival for a historic 27th year, and it’s just a few weeks away.

Dubbed “Beyond Bollywood”, the South Asian Film Festival takes place at the Enzian over a long weekend from Saturday to Monday October 2-4. This year, participants will have the chance to see four feature films and seven short films (some presented as part of the Chhota Cinema: New Indian Shorts program), including 10 first exclusive to the Festival.

This year’s list of films includes:

Saturday October 2
bengali
Sweeper’s son
pebbles
Pilibhit

Sunday October 3
Last night in Vegas
Dammy
Strong son
It’s a family thing
Just a human
7 days (
with a Zoom Q + A post-film with director Roshan Sethi)

Monday October 4
Last cinema screening

“It is extremely exciting to bring the South Asian Film Festival back to theaters with a full program that is as diverse, challenging and entertaining as ever,” said Matthew Curtis, Program Director of Enzian, and Jasbir Mehta, executive director of the Asian Cultural Association, in a joint statement.

Tickets are currently available through the Enzian Theater. A series pass is also available for admission to all films.
