San Angelo to be featured in NBC series on COVID: “Dying to Be Wrong”


SAN ANGELO – San Angelo to be featured in four-part documentary miniseries premiering later in October on NBCLX examining an “America Divided by COVID-19,” according to the network official site.

“In a deeply divided and mistrustful Texas city of public health officials, some say the COVID death toll is a hoax, or grossly exaggerated. Others must pick up the pieces after the death of a loved one, ”the website says.

The series, “Dying to Be Wrong” delves deep into how COVID-19 divided the nation and was created by NBC storyteller and Cody Broadway, originally from San Angelo.

Now living in Los Angeles, Broadway returned to his hometown to interview several San Angelo residents about the coronavirus and its impact on the community.

Interviews include Mayor Brenda Gunter, Local Health Authority Dr James Vretis, Catholic Bishop Michael Sis, Zachary Sutterfield, a resident of San Angelo and survivor of Fatal apartment fire in San Marcos, as well as Standard-Times investigative reporters John Tufts and Colin Murphey.
