martin luther king jr: New TV series on the biography of Martin Luther King Jr!


Author Patrick Parr’s biography on Martin Luther King Jr. titled “The Seminarian: Martin Luther King Jr. Matures” was released in 2018. And now, about three years later, the biography is being adapted into a television series.

Divine Write Pictures by Lawrence LAW Watford purchased the film, television and digital rights to the book. According to Deadline, Watford is aiming to adapt the book for television through its Tyler Street Films partnership with Jack Manning III and Tiffany Elle Burgess.

In the biography, Parr explores Martin Luther King Jr. his life as a student at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania and his love affair with a white woman, Betty Moitz, who was the daughter of the school dietitian.

Speaking about the book’s on-screen adaptation, Warford said, “I’m always drawn to stories that have incongruity as a central theme, so when I first read Dr King’s relationship with Betty Moitz in the press I was intrigued as I imagine most people probably were … We are always aware of how our heroes influenced us during our formative years, but it is rare that we have authentic insight into the events and the people who shaped them into the legendary people we celebrate today … nor do we ever have the opportunity to imagine them, truly and fully as beings The goal is therefore to introduce us to the variety of people who have influenced MLK’s life during this time. ”
