FOX TV Season 2021-22 Season Rankings (Updated 9/30/2021) – Canceled + Renewed TV Shows

During the 2020-21 regular TV season, due to the pandemic, the FOX Network only launched five new scripted TV series and canceled two. The previous year, the network had introduced eight new scripted shows. How many TV shows will be canceled or renewed in the 2021-22 season? Stay tuned.

How do leaders decide what to cancel or keep? They look at many different factors, but the odds play a very important role. The higher the odds, the better the chances of a show surviving. These maps for the 2021-22 season will be updated daily, as new scoring data becomes available.

FOX shows this season (so far): 9-1-1, Alter Ego, The Big Leap, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, The Great North, The Masked Singer, Our Kind of People, The resident, and The simpsons.

A few notes on these graphs:
These numbers are updated automatically as new notes are released. Averages are based on final national numbers (live and same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk

. For technical reasons, I have to resort to them manually. While these numbers do not include time-lapse or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of a show’s performance, especially compared to others on the same channel. There may be other economic factors involved in the fate of a show, but generally the highest rated series are renewed and the lower rated ones are canceled.

Keep in mind that demo numbers are usually what is most important to advertisers. So that’s how networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for advertising time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Older viewers are also important, but younger viewers watch traditional TV less and are therefore harder to reach. Deferred viewing is increasingly important these days (if ads are watched), but live viewing remains ideal for advertisers.

Demonstration numbers are usually marked using the decimal of tenths (eg 2.4). In the averages, I use an extra decimal place for easier ranking. The networks take into account the programs broadcast on Fridays and Saturdays, the evenings when the TV audience is weaker.

What do you think? What 2021-22 shows are you looking for? Which one isn’t as successful as you might think? Are you hoping for a TV series to be canceled to make way for something else?
